This is an eye catching headline but if you read the article it's kind of saying nothing.

2020欧洲杯体育在线网址“We are taking in Scotland the steps required to ensure that a referendum can be held that is legal and legitimate so the result can be accepted and agreed both at home and internationally,”

So she is not saying she will hold her own referendum, she is still trying to get permission from Boris.

This is the same kind of headline we hear daily in scotland. Some of us love the idea, some of us dont. But we have been pushing for independence for years. This new headline is just a tuesday to us.

I’m not against a second ref but is she saying the first one they had wasn’t legit and legal?!

Yeah, but it does speak to the inevitability of it. Independence almost won last time. Now that they've left the EU it's pretty much guaranteed a referendum will pass. Brexit has never been popular in Scotland the way it was in England.

She has already said that she doesn't think Scotland needs Westminsters approval, and Boris has already said he won't give it.

And he's already said he won't give it. He said it's supposed to be a 'once in a generation event' or something like that.

I mean, I’m partial to the American way. Send them a letter telling them you’ve moved on. Maybe shout “World Star” when they come over looking for a fight.

Serious Question: what would happen if they just said, “we’re independent now”?

They’re still pursuing it. Seems like a pretty big deal

So she is not saying she will hold her own referendum, she is still trying to get permission from Boris.

More accurately, she just hasn't taken getting permission off the table yet. She's exploring all options though, including taking the whole thing to court. Lots of ways forward even if Boris doesn't like it.

Self determination is the right of all free people.

But what unit of people? Should a town or village be allowed to leave whenever they want? Should they be entitled to hold a referendum any time they want? What if only part of Scotland wants to leave, shouldn't the rest of them have "self-determination" as well?
