Oh my god that was probably the most cringey part for me. The way they kept cutting back to her was so weird. And then anytime they were like “in this category there are 4 women nominees” and then a long round of applause. Anytime a woman was nominated or won they acted like they were seeing a paraplegic walk again. Jfc it was so ridiculous. Performative feminism makes me gag
2020欧洲杯体育在线网址"Look, we taught a girl to conduct a song! Aww, isn't it cute, she thinks she's people!"
That's what I always here when people make a big deal about a woman doing something like that. It's so patronizing.

2020欧洲杯体育在线网址If the Oscars were so exited about a female conductor why didn’t they have her conduct the entire show rather than giving her a very insulting token one segment.
I know! I’m also in the music industry and I’ve followed Eimear Noone’s work for a while, so I thought it was awesome to hear she’d be conducting. I basically saw a barrage of headlines SO focused on her gender (“first female conductor to conduct the Oscars”) and she wasn’t even actually conducting the main show.
She’s great at what she does and it would be nice to see her merit appreciated over the fact that she’s a woman.
To add to this they didnt even pronounce her name correctly, you'd think considering the point sigourney, gal and brie were trying to get out that they'd at least say the actual name of the conductor, her name is eimear pronounced ee-mur, not ih-meer. At least have the decency to ask her how to pronounce her name or even go to the bother of googling it, guess it wasnt worth the 15 seconds it would have taken her
2020欧洲杯体育在线网址I said this to a similar comment but I bet the current conductor (and all of the pit musicians) have had that gig for several years and know exactly what to do. Imagine being fired from a job you’re an expert at after several years just because corporate wants to force some diversity.

It's already happening. There was a recent viral Starbucks UK ad about a trans boy dealing with deadnaming (being called the name assigned to you at birth that you do not identify with).
It's a mixed blessing. On one hand, normalizing the lives of minorities and communicating their struggles in a way that induces empathy in the general populace is great. OTOH, they did it purely for profit, not philanthropy, and if profit predictions showed that transphobia would net more money than trans-friendliness, they'd pivot in a heartbeat.
2020欧洲杯体育在线网址It's a sort of incidental cultural progress piggybacking on raw capitalistic greed.
Exactly. Corporations are sociopaths who will do and say whatever they need to increase profits. If trans models become the new thing then they'll push the hell out of it, if Christian fundamentalists take over the country Handmaid's style then they'd push the hell out of that. They don't really care and they never will.
That's what pissed me off about the "backlash" to Cyberpunk 2077 ad featuring a trans character. The whole point was that corporations will exploit anyone and anything including trans people yet the media went into a frenzy attacking CD Project Red over it. How did all these "journalists", bloggers, and blue checkmarks really not understand that?
